Have come across a couple of sites out there selling n95 parts, screens (£34.94), buttons, camera shutter (£12,95) , black keys and more. For those with the n95 8GB maybe the camera mod will be good as it doesn’t come with the classic’s shutter cover.

Various kits are now availble to buy for the n95 but seem to come in an amazing amount of varieties on ebay. They range from around £4 – £30 pounds but there are a number of things to look out for. If you don’t already have a specialised n95 screwdriver then make sure that you get one with your purchase, the seperator tool that a lot a lot of sellers are also offering is nice but when I put on my new facia didn’t really need it.

Next come the facia parts, many dealers, at least on ebay are offering ‘part sets’ so beware. The following are all the parts (many sellers are offering only subsets of these: -

The battery cover

The keys

The above were the items that were included in the kit that I bought, you can get additional items, but why do you need them unless yours are broken?

Installation:

To change things over takes about 2-3 minutes. The covers, front and back take around 30 seconds to take off. The back cover is retained by a couple clips at either side just pull the sides out. The front cover is held in place by four screws at each corner on the underside of the front facia. Once these are off the front facia again comes off. A few points to watch, depending on the spec level of your parts is the camera and volume buttons on you existing back cover may need to be used on your new back. These do come off but are a little fiddly. The second point, as dumbo here didn’t do, is to also take out the earphone amplifier from your old front facia and install into your new one, again depending on your new parts. This is a little fiddly and is held in by a sticky lining but it can slowly be removed. If, like me, you do not put in the earpiece amplifier then you will not be able to hear anything and think your n95 is broken!! I didn’t change my keypads but you will find the front keypad was only held down by the facia so very easy to replace.
